POPRUS is a family popcorn business in Brooklyn built around one simple idea: good popcorn should still feel like someone made it for you.
That means we do things in small batches. We start with big mushroom kernels, the round, sturdy kind that give each piece a satisfying crunch and hold seasoning well. We pop them in coconut oil, watch each batch closely, and season the popcorn while it is fresh. It takes more attention than an assembly line, but that is the point.

Why mushroom kernels?
Mushroom popcorn kernels open into large, rounded pieces instead of the lighter, winged shape many people know from movie-theater popcorn. Their size gives every bite a full crunch, and their shape makes them a natural fit for bold seasoning. They are the base for all six POPRUS flavors.
Our lineup includes familiar favorites and flavors with a little more personality. Classic is simple and crisp. Butter is rich and comforting. Salt & Pepper is savory and balanced. Jalapeño brings a warm kick. Barbecue has a smoky, sweet edge. Shawarma, our signature flavor, is aromatic, savory, and unlike the popcorn most people have tried before.

We are proud to make POPRUS in Brooklyn. This is a city where families bring recipes, traditions, and strong opinions about food to the same table. Our six flavors reflect that mix. Some feel familiar right away. Others may surprise you. Every one begins with the same small-batch process and the same care.
POPRUS gourmet popcorn is made with non-GMO corn and contains no preservatives. It is dairy-free and kosher parve under the Vaad HaKashrus of Tarnopol. We chose coconut oil because it gives the popcorn a clean, crisp finish and lets each seasoning come through.
For us, kosher popcorn is not a special category added after the fact. It is part of how the popcorn is made from the beginning. The same is true of being dairy-free and using non-GMO corn. Those choices belong in the process, not in fine print.
